CHARACTER DOES COUNT
Daniel 3
"Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident, riches take wings, those who cheer today may curse tomorrow, only one thing endures -- character." (Horace Greeley)
.When wealth is lost, nothing is lost;
When health is lost, something is lost;
When character is lost, all is lost.
How Do We Develop Our Character?
Character usually develops in an atmosphere of struggle.
Character will always cost something.
Character is not a condition; it is the result of deliberate choice.
People develop great character because they choose to do right in spite of the conditions.
God expects us to do right regardless of the consequences.
"If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. {18} But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up" (Dan 3:17-18).
The moment of greatness is the moment you make up your mind to do what's right.
Character starts with little commitments in our lives.
If you can't stand up and say no to the king's food, you can't stand up and say no to the king's idol.
When you sin once, it's easier to sin twice. Sin breaks down the walls of resistance.
Characteristics of Character
Character doesn’t depend on one’s abilities or gifts.
Others will be influenced by our character.
We never make an important choice that does not affect other people.
Settle the issue of character before the issue arises.
God, give us men and women of integrity and character! A time like this demands strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands.
